What to Wear to Lunch in the Marina

For a 20 Year Anniversary

White shorts and chambray shirt is a stock outfit for summer.

My husband and I went to lunch in the marina for our 20 year anniversary.  White shorts are new from Macy's by Maison Jules.  They are flat front which works for my shape (pleats shorten me).  Chambray shirt, sunglasses, and leopard print belt from Target.  Purse by Salvatore Ferragamo.  Shoes by Steve Madden.

Funny thing...I must like white shorts, chambray shirt, leopard print belt, tan shoe and bag...because I wore the EXACT outfit to the pediatrician two weeks ago.

Honestly, I was feeling 50 and frumpy, so I did not post the outfit of the day.

I just wanted to be comfortable.  I actually like this shirt better.  I think I have about 5.

The new shorts are whiter.  What makes you FEEL comfortable?

What to Wear Another Day at the Office

White Blouse and Black Jeans

Naturally, it's got to be easy and comfortable because today is a running around day...

...and a warm summer day, so...layers.  I did bring a light scarf because it's cold in the morning.  Sheer white blouse (old) from Banana Republic.  Black painted jeans from Target.  Black peep toe booties (old) from Nine West and off-white bag from Coach.

Hair up, and I'm off to run those errands...

What To Wear To A Business Meeting

Navy Blue Instills Confidence

Even if I don't have all the answers.

I studied color theory and am a firm believer.  I like to wear navy blue to meetings, because sometimes I don't have all the answers to all the questions, and navy blue conveys trust.  So, when I say, "I don't know, but I will get that answer for you as soon as I can", people don't freak out.

A white blouse helps too, and I layered with a sheer top and cami for temperature changes, inside and out...and inside my body (hot flashes can be fun!)

Black pumps by Steve Madden.  Dark wash blue jeans from Hollister.
Black satchel handbag by Coach.  Black belt from Hermès.
Old navy blue blazer from the 80's (really, really old) by Jones of New York.
What makes you feet confident?

Going home...

T.G.I.F.

What to wear when you are so grateful it's Friday...

Casual Friday.

The jeans are blue, but the striped shirt is black and white, so the white (off-white) blazer pulls it all together and looks like summer.

The suede beige Steve Madden shoes are getting heavy rotation because they make running around...not hard.  Off-white blazer (old) from Banana Republic.  Striped short sleeve shirt is by Ralph Lauren from Macy's.  Jeans from Hollister.  Sunglasses from Target.

Hollywood secret:  Email Diamant Red Toothpaste.  It's completely safe, it dyes your gums red, making your teeth look super white.  I just got my new tube in the mail (I order on-line).  It is used by actress' and public speakers...and now by those in the know!

Casual Summer Work Day

What to wear on a hot summer day when the air conditioning is blasting..

Basically, layers work, and I rely on the column rule...same color top and bottom and contrasting layer over, in this case the light weight, grey cardigan.

Inside, it's cool and the lighting is terrible.  Light weight cardigan is from H&M.  There were lots of choices of colors.  I got it in grey, black and blue.  Jeans by Hollister.  Tank top and sunglasses from Target, so reasonable for core pieces.  Black satchel (old) by Coach.

"Snakeskin" shoes (old) by Steve Madden, they pick up the color of the grey cardigan pulling the look together.

Hollywood secret:  Never shampoo your hair!!  Shampoos contain sulfates (salt) and strip your hair of precious natural oils.  Look for a cleansing conditioner, or better yet, if you already have a favorite conditioner, use it like you would a shampoo.  Your hair won't foam up, that's okay.  Rinse and condition like normal.  Try it for a week, you'll see a difference.  Then stop shampooing your hair for good.

Summer 2016 Casual Work Outfit

White Blouse Blue Jeans

Throw on a pair of jeans and go...

A white sheer white blouse is perfect for hot summer days when it's hot outside, but cool inside where it's air-conditioned.  It's a polished look paired with jeans and block heel shoes.

Tan suede block heel shoes by Steve Madden.

With wisdom, comes a few (okay, a lot) of grey hairs.  There are lots of root touch-up products out there, but the one I have seen used on-set the most,
is a product called Color Wow.

It comes in every shade and it's so easy to apply.  It's a little brush and powder and it works until you can color permanently.

Color Wow.  Wow. It works on dark hair really well.  Available on-line.

Summer 2016 Inspiration

Gingham Shirt White Jeans

Where do you find your style inspiration?  Do you just pull something out of the closet and go, or do you see an outfit and think, "I have that already in my closet"?

Pinterest is the most amazing place to find inspiration.

Nailed it. Okay, maybe not...just missing the frappuccino. :D

Los Angeles Street Style.
Gingham shirt is Maison Jules, from Macy's.  White jeans "rock star" style from Old Navy.  The bandolier holds my phone, I.D. and ATM card, perfect for work mode.

Tan suede shoes from Steve Madden.

Back to work.

What to Wear in a Heat Wave

Be cool...

Black top, black jeans, red heels...

Cool vibe.

Yes, it's THAT HOT!!!

Lightweight sheer V-neck is from Express (old), it's revealing, so I wore a
little lace cami underneath.

Covered up.

The red leather pumps are old from Steve Madden.  I did an on-line search, and
look what I found!
So many choices!
Black leather satchel by Coach.  I wanted to keep it all black except the pop of red.
Hollywood secret:  Anti-perspirant/deodorant isn't just for your underarms.  I've seen it put LOTS of places to stop sweat, never chafe again.

What to wear when you're late for work

Black Blazer Black Jeans

Good attitude.

It's warm outside and air conditioned inside, so a blazer is nice for a professional polished layer. Black stretchy skinny "Rock Star" jeans from Old Navy.  Black blazer (old) from Banana Republic and white sleeveless blouse from Express.

Keep it simple.
Shoes from Steve Madden (old), but I've seen them at Aldo:

The big black handbag satchel is old, from Coach, but look at all the choices I found on-line!

Striped Shirt

What to wear to your physical

Tiny room, tiny gown, tons of questions, and an appointment to come back for a colonoscopy (it's recommended after 50 and I'm 3 years past due). Ugh.

Be grateful.

Be comfortable.

Striped shirt by Ralph Lauren (old).
Jeggings from Hollister, the front pockets are already sewn up, and the fabric is super duper soft.  I get them in the "short" or "S" size, 'cus I'm 5'2".
Black peep toe booties lengthen the leg by matching the color of the shoe to the hem of the pant. (Google Prince and check out how he always wore shoes that matched the color of his pants...he was short and paid a professional stylist...he looked good, right?).

I love my bandolier!!!  It holds my phone, I.D. and ATM card.

Be bold.

White Blouse White Jeans

Casual Lunch

When I'm with my bestie, I don't have to worry about sticky fingers, tantrums (maybe), or spilled juice (maybe wine).

I love wearing white in the summer when I know there will be no up keep issues.  I chose a loose fitting top, no collar, to pair with the tight skinny jeans.  Wardrobe tip: mix up the tight/loose silhouette, for example...if I'm wearing loose pants, then form fitting top...if I'm wearing form fitting pants or skirt, then I'm wearing a loose top (like this outfit).

White blouse by Rachel Roy from Macy's.  White Rock Star jeans from Old Navy.  Straw leopard print clutch (old) from H&M.  Caterina tasseled heels from Aldo (I tucked the top tassel up under the pants because they were bothering me).

...and then, anytime I am wearing white, I have my trusted Wet Ones with me.  Those Wet Ones are the standard on any movie set used by wardrobe...because it works!!!  For some reason, that particular formula wipes any smudge, dirt or spill AWAY!!

...and then I always have Friction Block with me, because I love shoes and I hate blisters.

Rub this on your foot anywhere there is a pinch, rub, or tightness.
Prevention is the best medicine!

Thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habits, habits become second nature, second nature becomes character and character becomes destiny.

Think positive! :D
