What to Wear to a Meeting...

It's going to be cold inside with the air conditioning, so...

Hollywood Secret: The Column Rule for slimming your frame.  Unless you do not want to slim your frame, but for me, words like slimming, reducing, whittling are great places to start.
Off-white blazer (old) from Banana Republic serves as a contrast to the dark black top and dark blue jeans.  So for example, if we assigned a number for the TONE of black, it would be 10 (super dark tone) and if we assigned a number for the TONE of white (super light tone), it would be 1 (the number for the TONE of yellow, green, light blue would be somewhere in the middle, like a 5, so white and pink aren't very contrasting)  High contrasting creates a column effect and makes the body appear slimmer.

In Hollywood, appearance is everything.
I'm not anywhere near Old New York.  I'm standing on Old New York street on the backlot of the studio.  It appears like I'm in New York, right?  Don't look too close, those concrete banisters are made of wood and the plants are in movable pots.

I hope you are having a good day.  Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.

T.G.I.F.

What to wear when you are so grateful it's Friday...

Casual Friday.

The jeans are blue, but the striped shirt is black and white, so the white (off-white) blazer pulls it all together and looks like summer.

The suede beige Steve Madden shoes are getting heavy rotation because they make running around...not hard.  Off-white blazer (old) from Banana Republic.  Striped short sleeve shirt is by Ralph Lauren from Macy's.  Jeans from Hollister.  Sunglasses from Target.

Hollywood secret:  Email Diamant Red Toothpaste.  It's completely safe, it dyes your gums red, making your teeth look super white.  I just got my new tube in the mail (I order on-line).  It is used by actress' and public speakers...and now by those in the know!

Casual Summer Work Day

What to wear on a hot summer day when the air conditioning is blasting..

Basically, layers work, and I rely on the column rule...same color top and bottom and contrasting layer over, in this case the light weight, grey cardigan.

Inside, it's cool and the lighting is terrible.  Light weight cardigan is from H&M.  There were lots of choices of colors.  I got it in grey, black and blue.  Jeans by Hollister.  Tank top and sunglasses from Target, so reasonable for core pieces.  Black satchel (old) by Coach.

"Snakeskin" shoes (old) by Steve Madden, they pick up the color of the grey cardigan pulling the look together.

Hollywood secret:  Never shampoo your hair!!  Shampoos contain sulfates (salt) and strip your hair of precious natural oils.  Look for a cleansing conditioner, or better yet, if you already have a favorite conditioner, use it like you would a shampoo.  Your hair won't foam up, that's okay.  Rinse and condition like normal.  Try it for a week, you'll see a difference.  Then stop shampooing your hair for good.

Summer Evening Cocktail Party

It's cool in the evening

A light shawl, in this case a kimono, was needed to provide a little coverage and warmth.

I am in love with the kimono look and found this one on-line.  There are lots of styles and colors, I ordered a large and could have gone up a size.  This is going to be the Summer of 2016 look for me...easy and comfortable.

Off-white cotton tank top is from Target ($8, super soft and easily replaced every season).  I buy the tank tops in white, black, and grey.  Shorts are Maison Jules from Macy's (http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/maison-jules-scalloped-hem-shorts-only-at-macys?ID=2766271&CategoryID=5344&selectedSize=#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D8%26ruleId%3D46%26slotId%3D4%26kws%3Dmaison%20jules%20shorts).  I got them because they were a little nicer than plain ones.  It has pockets that I cut out and sewed up to reduce bulk...cut them out, you don't need them!!

Necklace is a black sapphire necklace (old), but I chose to wear it because it sparkles and to pick up the black in the kimono...and because it was a party.

What to Wear to Your Daughter's Graduation

Graduation Day

It's a BIG DEAL, sitting, squished between parents/grandparents, in the bleachers (comfortably?) for an hour and a half, taking pictures FOR POSTERITY, then going for a BIG meal ('cus...come on, you haven't eaten for the whole day, right?)

We made it!!!  That's her, on the left, horning in. ;)  First, let me say how proud I am of my straight A daughter, so excuse my puffy eyes, crying will do that.

Plain black sheath dress is so easy to accessorize to your personality (and all day comfortable).  I am using the column rule here with contrasting colors.  Black dress, contrasting color cardigan, which in this case is a sheer silk kimono.  Black sheath dress is old, I bought it a while back and hemmed it, but I see that it's time for a little longer length.  Little silk kimono is from Amazon.com...I swear...and inexpensive!  I was looking for a lightweight cover and looked online under "Kimono Cardigan" and a slew of choices popped up!!!  Shoes by Aldo. http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/en_US/women/sandals/high-heels/CATARINA/p/46384580-32

So Proud.
