Running around in Venice

I love stripes!

Maybe too much...

Something about running around in Venice, Summer, and stripes and I'm a happy girl.
Hollywood Secret: Color Wow!

It's been a few weeks past my normal root touch-up and this product is what they use on-set to temporarily touch up gray and dark roots.  Basically, my whole head is brushed with this powder, until I can get to my colorist....TODAY.

Striped shirt by Ralph Lauren from Macy's.  I did a search and couldn't find it, but I did find this one by Charter Club and it has the longer sleeves that I like.

And my new styling trick is to wear a weighted necklace in order to define the breast.  If I don't define the "uni-boob", it looks like I have a barrel chest and adds bulk, which I don't need.

It came in lots of colors!!

I would love to hear comments from you!  Thank you and enjoy your day!

What to Wear to Lunch at Nobu

With my girlfriends...

I want to be comfortable.  Nobu is super casual, but definitely a celeb hotspot.

Navy stripes say beach to me and Nobu restaurant is right on the beach...in fact, if you go in the daytime, it's much better to see the crashing waves.  At night, it's too dark.

Sand colored suede shoes by Steve Madden...they come in lots of colors. My legs are short, so I wear heels similar to the color of my legs, making them look longer than they are.

I wore the long statement necklace to define my top a little better
and not look so "barrel chested".
Striped shirt is old from Old Navy.  White shorts are Maison Jules from Macys.

The "Amy" purse (medium) by Salvatore Ferragamo available at Bloomingdales.

Wear a hat, because it gets sunny on the patio.  This day, Robin Thicke was behind us, of course, I did not take a picture of him and his hot girlfriend.

The sliders are good, apparently, but I absolutely loooooove the yellowtail with jalepeƱo!!

What to Wear to Casual Dinner Out with Husband

When it's a little chilly in the evening...

At the beach, it's my favorite thing to do is dine outside with a fire nearby. Today I am linking up with Tania on Wednesday’s Wardrobe.

This lightweight cashmere sweater is soft to the touch and light enough for the summer season.  I wanted to be casual, but a little soft and flirty for my husband of 20 years.  Hollywood secret: Whenever you are wearing white, make sure your undergarments match the color of your skin...I did NOT follow that helpful hint and you can see my tank top (from Target) under the nice sweater (old) from Bloomingdales.  In Hollywood, the wardrobe ladies carry with them, in their on-set kit, a fabric de-fuzzer.  I use one on my sweaters because the cashmere tends to ball and pill and fuzz.  A sweater de-fuzzer is affordable, you can order on-line, and it will keep your expensive sweaters looking new for a long time...use it!

White scalloped shorts from Macy's

Hollywood secret: match the shoe to your skin tone to lengthen your legs.  I have at least a few pair of "nude" shoes for all different occasions.  If my legs are showing, I'm wearing shoes to lengthen my short, short legs.

After a few margaritas...

What to Wear to Lunch in the Marina

For a 20 Year Anniversary

White shorts and chambray shirt is a stock outfit for summer.

My husband and I went to lunch in the marina for our 20 year anniversary.  White shorts are new from Macy's by Maison Jules.  They are flat front which works for my shape (pleats shorten me).  Chambray shirt, sunglasses, and leopard print belt from Target.  Purse by Salvatore Ferragamo.  Shoes by Steve Madden.

Funny thing...I must like white shorts, chambray shirt, leopard print belt, tan shoe and bag...because I wore the EXACT outfit to the pediatrician two weeks ago.

Honestly, I was feeling 50 and frumpy, so I did not post the outfit of the day.

I just wanted to be comfortable.  I actually like this shirt better.  I think I have about 5.

The new shorts are whiter.  What makes you FEEL comfortable?

White Shorts Denim Jacket

Summer 2016

White shorts say summer to me, and I tend to wear them all season, so to keep it fresh, I change it up with styles and textures.

These little white lace shorts are fun and different.  They are from Express (old).

I'm using the column rule here, white shorts, white top (tank top from Target) and contrasting jacket (from JC Penney).

Sand colored cross-body from Coach holds the essentials.

Shoes that are similar color to my skin tone help lengthen my legs.

Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.

Summer Evening Cocktail Party

It's cool in the evening

A light shawl, in this case a kimono, was needed to provide a little coverage and warmth.

I am in love with the kimono look and found this one on-line.  There are lots of styles and colors, I ordered a large and could have gone up a size.  This is going to be the Summer of 2016 look for me...easy and comfortable.

Off-white cotton tank top is from Target ($8, super soft and easily replaced every season).  I buy the tank tops in white, black, and grey.  Shorts are Maison Jules from Macy's (http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/maison-jules-scalloped-hem-shorts-only-at-macys?ID=2766271&CategoryID=5344&selectedSize=#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D8%26ruleId%3D46%26slotId%3D4%26kws%3Dmaison%20jules%20shorts).  I got them because they were a little nicer than plain ones.  It has pockets that I cut out and sewed up to reduce bulk...cut them out, you don't need them!!

Necklace is a black sapphire necklace (old), but I chose to wear it because it sparkles and to pick up the black in the kimono...and because it was a party.

Striped Shirt White Shorts

Summer

The closer it gets to Fourth of July, the striped shirts come out...

Striped shirts are classic.
The little white shorts with the scallop edge keeps it from being boring.

Crossbody bag from Coach and patent leather shoes (old) from Steve Madden.

...and now for a Hollywood Secret: Everyone know about teeth whitening, but here's a little extra special pop that actress' and public speakers use all the time.  It's red toothpaste.  Yes, red toothpaste.  It does not stain your teeth, it does stain your gums making your teeth and smile POP!  It's great if you are going to have pictures taken or you have teeth sensitivity and can't use the whitening strips.  It lasts A LONG TIME.  It's called Email Diamant Red Toothpaste, and you can find it on-line.

Striped Shirt White Shorts

Sun's Out

Time for the summer sun to put a little color on those legs...

I love striped shirts, it's a classic and sets the tone for summer.  Pop of red color keeps it from being too expected.

It seems striped shirts are everywhere.  Mine is old from Ralph Lauren.  White shorts from Old Navy.  Red belt from Target and red cross body bag from Coach.  Old, old espadrilles from Charles David.

50something comes with grey roots.  Hollywood Secret: Color Wow!

I wouldn't believe it, unless I saw it myself, this stuff works.  My shade is platinum, but it comes in EVERY shade.  Available at ULTA or on-line.

It's crazy how well it works...in seconds!!  Now let's talk about hot flashes...Hollywood secret: The personal hand fan

The wardrobe, hair, and make-up departments all have these on set for the actors...because they work.  Just don't fall asleep with one near your head, because it will get caught up in your grey hair...yea, that happened.

Casual Lunch Date

Lunch with an Old Friend

It's summer, right?  Well, it's cold at the beach and hard to gauge the temperature away from the marine layer.

But, it's summer, right?!  Time to pull out those shorts, but I need a tan... and a sweater!

Until I don't need a sweater...

The blue gingham shirt is from Macy's by Maison Jules.  White shorts from Old Navy (Hollywood secret: cut out the pockets, because they add unnecessary bulk, and sew them up).  Old belt from the Gap.  Old shoes from Aldo.  Purse by Coach.

My legs are pasty white, so it's time for leg make-up.  Yes.  Leg make-up.  At least until summer shines it's bountiful light on them.  If you have time and the inclination, a secret is to put on your self tanner in the evening and then let it tan overnight.  In the morning, you can shower off the excess before dressing.  I'm last minute, so make-up.

It took awhile to get the blending down.  A make-up artist gave me a large, fat make-up brush to help blend and that made all the difference in the world by swirling little circles until the streaks went away.
