Casual Lunch

What to Wear to a Casual Summer Lunch

Jeans and a white shirt are my go-to uniform for summer.

Easy, Breezy.  Then the only thing left is to accessorize!  I went with tanned leather for the shoes, purse, belt.  Sunglasses are old from Target.  Distressed jeans from Hollister.
White t-shirt is from JCPenney.
I like their t-shirts because they are made with a thicker material.

Do you have an easy solution to getting dressed in the long days of summer?
Please leave a comment so that I know you stopped by and thank you for visiting.

Lunch at Bottega Louis

What to Wear to Lunch DTLA

White jeans are in order...

My new favorite trick came from Susan Street over at FiftynotFrumpy.blogspot.com, that is to wear a long necklace to break up the barrel chest.  Now I will always use that tip.

Look how well it works!!  I'm so happy to learn that trick, it keeps me from looking bigger up top and I'm trying to reduce added bulk.  Hollywood Secret:  Whenever wearing white, pack your Wet Ones.

Just like these.  They totally work on white and I NEVER leave home with white jeans without a pack of Wet Ones.  This is what the wardrobe people carry with them AT ALL TIMES on set, because it works!!

Bottega Louie is a restaurant, but they have the most amazing desserts.  You can not leave the place without a box of macaroons in every flavor.  If you ever get to DTLA (downtown Los Angeles), Bottega Louie is a destination.

Even the packaging is gorgeous!

Please leave comments, I would love to hear what you have to say and thank you in advance!  Enjoy your day!

What to Wear to The Grove

Jeans and T-shirt

and a weighted pendant necklace...

A little secret that I learned from the https://fiftynotfrumpy.blogspot.com/ blog by Susan Street.  I love her blog and one of the best tips was to use the weighted necklace to keep this look from looking like I have a barrel chest.  It was an "aha" moment for me.

Necklace by Kendra Scott from Bloomingdales.

They had it in lots of colors.

Thank you, Susan @fiftynotfrumpy!

Grey t-shirt (old) from JCPenney.  I checked and this brand is no longer available.  When I find a great t-shirt, I buy it in three colors: white, grey, and black.  I get two of each.
Jeggings from Hollister.

Shoes by Steve Madden.

Purse by Coach.

What to Wear to Lunch at Nobu

With my girlfriends...

I want to be comfortable.  Nobu is super casual, but definitely a celeb hotspot.

Navy stripes say beach to me and Nobu restaurant is right on the beach...in fact, if you go in the daytime, it's much better to see the crashing waves.  At night, it's too dark.

Sand colored suede shoes by Steve Madden...they come in lots of colors. My legs are short, so I wear heels similar to the color of my legs, making them look longer than they are.

I wore the long statement necklace to define my top a little better
and not look so "barrel chested".
Striped shirt is old from Old Navy.  White shorts are Maison Jules from Macys.

The "Amy" purse (medium) by Salvatore Ferragamo available at Bloomingdales.

Wear a hat, because it gets sunny on the patio.  This day, Robin Thicke was behind us, of course, I did not take a picture of him and his hot girlfriend.

The sliders are good, apparently, but I absolutely loooooove the yellowtail with jalepeƱo!!

Tuesday Style Inspiration

White Jeans Grey Shirt

Pop of color...

Thank Goodness for the beautiful women that put themselves out there and inspire the rest of us.  Some days, my brain is DEAD and if I can get an idea for dinner or a better way to hack through life or an inspiration to shop my closet, well, the better I am for it.

Isn't she wonderful?  She's from Seattle...DressCoriLynn.com. I appreciate her style and check her blog almost every day.  It seems she just has it together, right?  And then, I read her blog the other day...check it out...DressCoriLynn.com...and she said that some days she wonders why she does it...okay, maybe I'm not CoriLynn and certainly she does not dress like a woman over 50, but her style is classic, ageless, and elegant...the perfect inspiration.

So, while I am not the perfect CoriLynn, maybe I can be the best ME.
(Thank you DressCoriLynn.com, you are my style inspiration and made my life just a little easier getting dressed today...)

Bloom where you are planted.

What to Wear to Lunch in the Marina

For a 20 Year Anniversary

White shorts and chambray shirt is a stock outfit for summer.

My husband and I went to lunch in the marina for our 20 year anniversary.  White shorts are new from Macy's by Maison Jules.  They are flat front which works for my shape (pleats shorten me).  Chambray shirt, sunglasses, and leopard print belt from Target.  Purse by Salvatore Ferragamo.  Shoes by Steve Madden.

Funny thing...I must like white shorts, chambray shirt, leopard print belt, tan shoe and bag...because I wore the EXACT outfit to the pediatrician two weeks ago.

Honestly, I was feeling 50 and frumpy, so I did not post the outfit of the day.

I just wanted to be comfortable.  I actually like this shirt better.  I think I have about 5.

The new shorts are whiter.  What makes you FEEL comfortable?

What to Wear Another Day at the Office

White Blouse and Black Jeans

Naturally, it's got to be easy and comfortable because today is a running around day...

...and a warm summer day, so...layers.  I did bring a light scarf because it's cold in the morning.  Sheer white blouse (old) from Banana Republic.  Black painted jeans from Target.  Black peep toe booties (old) from Nine West and off-white bag from Coach.

Hair up, and I'm off to run those errands...

White Blouse White Jeans

Casual Lunch

When I'm with my bestie, I don't have to worry about sticky fingers, tantrums (maybe), or spilled juice (maybe wine).

I love wearing white in the summer when I know there will be no up keep issues.  I chose a loose fitting top, no collar, to pair with the tight skinny jeans.  Wardrobe tip: mix up the tight/loose silhouette, for example...if I'm wearing loose pants, then form fitting top...if I'm wearing form fitting pants or skirt, then I'm wearing a loose top (like this outfit).

White blouse by Rachel Roy from Macy's.  White Rock Star jeans from Old Navy.  Straw leopard print clutch (old) from H&M.  Caterina tasseled heels from Aldo (I tucked the top tassel up under the pants because they were bothering me).

...and then, anytime I am wearing white, I have my trusted Wet Ones with me.  Those Wet Ones are the standard on any movie set used by wardrobe...because it works!!!  For some reason, that particular formula wipes any smudge, dirt or spill AWAY!!

...and then I always have Friction Block with me, because I love shoes and I hate blisters.

Rub this on your foot anywhere there is a pinch, rub, or tightness.
Prevention is the best medicine!

Thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habits, habits become second nature, second nature becomes character and character becomes destiny.

Think positive! :D

Striped Shirt White Shorts

Summer

The closer it gets to Fourth of July, the striped shirts come out...

Striped shirts are classic.
The little white shorts with the scallop edge keeps it from being boring.

Crossbody bag from Coach and patent leather shoes (old) from Steve Madden.

...and now for a Hollywood Secret: Everyone know about teeth whitening, but here's a little extra special pop that actress' and public speakers use all the time.  It's red toothpaste.  Yes, red toothpaste.  It does not stain your teeth, it does stain your gums making your teeth and smile POP!  It's great if you are going to have pictures taken or you have teeth sensitivity and can't use the whitening strips.  It lasts A LONG TIME.  It's called Email Diamant Red Toothpaste, and you can find it on-line.

Casual Lunch Date

Lunch with an Old Friend

It's summer, right?  Well, it's cold at the beach and hard to gauge the temperature away from the marine layer.

But, it's summer, right?!  Time to pull out those shorts, but I need a tan... and a sweater!

Until I don't need a sweater...

The blue gingham shirt is from Macy's by Maison Jules.  White shorts from Old Navy (Hollywood secret: cut out the pockets, because they add unnecessary bulk, and sew them up).  Old belt from the Gap.  Old shoes from Aldo.  Purse by Coach.

My legs are pasty white, so it's time for leg make-up.  Yes.  Leg make-up.  At least until summer shines it's bountiful light on them.  If you have time and the inclination, a secret is to put on your self tanner in the evening and then let it tan overnight.  In the morning, you can shower off the excess before dressing.  I'm last minute, so make-up.

It took awhile to get the blending down.  A make-up artist gave me a large, fat make-up brush to help blend and that made all the difference in the world by swirling little circles until the streaks went away.
