Seems like a lot for a busy mom, but in keeping with my promise to myself to work a blog...

A picture a day (someone needs a tan or leg make-up).  This day was not the day for either...summer sun, do your thing!!

Time for the summer sun to put a little color on those legs...

I love striped shirts, it's a classic and sets the tone for summer.  Pop of red color keeps it from being too expected.

It seems striped shirts are everywhere.  Mine is old from Ralph Lauren.  White shorts from Old Navy.  Red belt from Target and red cross body bag from Coach.  Old, old espadrilles from Charles David.

The wardrobe, hair, and make-up departments all have these on set for the actors...because they work.  Just don't fall asleep with one near your head, because it will get caught up in your grey hair...yea, that happened.

What is Street Style?

I thought street style was when the photographers snapped pictures of the fancy folks leaving the high fashion shows in Paris, Milan, and New York.  I would like to redefine the notion that you have to be "high style" to have street style.

It's true, no body walks in L.A....unless you have kids, then you are running.  I found these shoes at one of those cheap and cheerful shops in the mall.  They are so comfortable, I think it's the strap around the ankle...or that they're plastic, either/or, if the shoe fits...

The shoes MUST fit and I have to be able to run (or at least scamper).  White blouse and jeans are so so simple to throw on and GO!  The white blouse is old from Express, but I have noticed that for the last three years, they have had the same style. It's sheer, so a little peel-a-boo with a lace camisole works.  I'm pretty sure I got that at Express, but it's super old and I cut out the tags.

It's a great place to go when an oversized white shirt is needed...

I really wanted to get one more wear from my "pleather" leggings and needed a longer shirt to cover up the back...so...thank you, Honey?

Running around, casual, comfortable is the call of the day.  The belt (Hermès) has to hit me at the belly button to compliment my silhouette.  The yellow Coach purse provides the nice summer POP of color.

It's summer, right?  Well, it's cold at the beach and hard to gauge the temperature away from the marine layer.

But, it's summer, right?!  Time to pull out those shorts, but I need a tan... and a sweater!

Until I don't need a sweater...

The blue gingham shirt is from Macy's by Maison Jules.  White shorts from Old Navy (Hollywood secret: cut out the pockets, because they add unnecessary bulk, and sew them up).  Old belt from the Gap.  Old shoes from Aldo.  Purse by Coach.

My legs are pasty white, so it's time for leg make-up.  Yes.  Leg make-up.  At least until summer shines it's bountiful light on them.  If you have time and the inclination, a secret is to put on your self tanner in the evening and then let it tan overnight.  In the morning, you can shower off the excess before dressing.  I'm last minute, so make-up.

It took awhile to get the blending down.  A make-up artist gave me a large, fat make-up brush to help blend and that made all the difference in the world by swirling little circles until the streaks went away.

Back on the backlot

I had to head in to work today to pick up and drop off a few things and thought it would be a good opportunity to snap some pictures on the back lot.

I started with white jeans, because it's official, I can wear white!!!!  I love white jeans, but they can make me look like I have a squatty body...so, no bueño.  I am using the column rule to lengthen the silhouette.  White top, white pants and contrasting blazer.

When I am on the lot, I am in work mode so I have to dress a little more professional, but I like an unexpected pop and the leopard print shoes make the outfit fun.  Shoes (old) by Steve Madden.  I have found that if a particular shoe designer's pattern fits your foot, it will remain true to size for other designs...for years.

Black blazer is from Banana Republic.  White jeans are the Rock Star jeans from Old Navy and I just turned them under at the hem for a more polished look.  

White sleeveless top is from Express.  

After running around on the lot, visiting with folks, I was soooooooo hungry, so I stopped at Micky D's on my way back home for a grilled chicken snack wrap with hot mustard...bad move, because it dripped all over my nice white pants and I still had a few stops to go before I got home.  Grrrrr.

Luckily, I had my big purse with my Friction Block (and I used it since I had not worn those shoes for a while) and a package of Wet Ones.  I had to take pictures (I pulled over first) to show the miracle of Wet Ones.  There is still a small spot (after), and that will come out in the wash, but doesn't it look SOOOO much better?  At least there wasn't a big yellow spot on the front of my jeans when I still had a few more stops.
